= "You move through a tiny secret door in a remote corner of the Tower, and find yourself in a disused storeroom. The south wall of the storeroom is crumbling - it looks like it received a massive impact from the other side.";
= "You find the bodies of several former students of the magic school. They all died quickly and violently.";
= "You find the crumpled form of Mahdavi, former member of the Triad of the Tower of Magi. Something flung her into the west wall with such force that the rock cracked. She slumps on the floor like a doll with the stuffing taken out.";
= "Surprisingly, you arrived in the ruins of the Tower of Magi in one of the guest bedrooms. The formerly bright halls now stink of sulphur and echo with inhuman roars. As you look around, someone whispers: _Come here! Quickly!_ Then you hear a door close.";
= "Following the destruction of its creators and controllers, the surface portal is slowly starting to fall apart. It wavers and stutters, sending jets of energy flying about the ruin. It's far too dangerous to use.";
= "You reach the highest chamber of the Tower. The thick, insulated walls protecting the tower from the energy of the surface portal have started to crumble. The chamber is dominated by an out of control tower of magical energy. Any skin exposed to the maelstrom in the center of the hall starts to tingle and hurt within seconds.";
= "The demons took particular pains to blast this room with fire. Nothing is left.";
= "This room was Linda's laboratory. The floor glows red hot, and runes appear and fade on the surface of the semi-molten rock. This must be where she first summoned the creatures that destroyed the Tower.";
= "Several bodies have been carelessly cast over here. They all met speedy, fiery ends.";
= "This dead woman was one of the Tower guards. Something took her head clean off and left the body behind.";
= "Massive tendrils of black stone have grown out of the floor ahead, completely blocking the entrance to the tower. Nobody is getting in or out of here any time soon.";
= "The body of the proprietor of this store lies before you. Something smashed him against the wall with a very large piece of thrown marble.";
= "The demons have been dragging the humans in the Tower here to amuse themselves.";
= "You lie down for a nice rest. Strangely, you have an really easy time going to sleep. Your sleep is so sound that it isn't even disturbed when the demons rip into you.";
= "You have made your way to the Tower of Magi's temple, the only room to remain completely undamaged by the demon's attack. The good energy of the place heats the air around you, mostly keeping the demons at bay. From here, you can see the reflection of something metallic sitting on the altar.";
= "As you stare at the holy altar to the north, you cannot help but wonder how long it's going to last before the foul creatures break through its defenses.";
= "The altar reaches into its last reserves of energy and gives some of it to you. After several minutes of meditation in its warm glow, you feel replenished!";
= "You kneel and touch the white marble, but the altar has no energy left to lend you.";
= "A guttural voice booms through the Tower's halls: _I sense you here! You have come to me? Hide and scurry if you like, for soon my servants will find you!_";
= "The horrible voice rings out again, coming from all around you. _Still struggling? I have gained enough force to act!_ Suddenly, a cloud of sparks springs from the walls! It ends abruptly, but not before you are burned.";
= "The voice roars out. _I am closer with every moment! Take this, worms!_ A hot wind rises up, scouring the room and halls of the Tower of Magi. It does a good job of boiling you in your armor before it dies away.";
= "You pick up the Blessed Athame. As you do, a crowd of infernals appears to the south! The massive demon leading them croaks, _Thank you so much! We couldn't get it from the altar, but we can certainly get it from you!_ They attack.";
= "You swing your blade at the portal, trying to destroy it. The steel passes through her without effect. Linda says, _No! That will trap Grah-Hoth here! Enter me ... it's our only hope!_";
= "You step forward. Linda lurches forward to engulf you. The last thing you hear is her screaming, _Fools!_ Then you find yourself in Grah-Hoth's domain. You are easily overpowered by a limitless multitude of demons, and you amuse them greatly before, weeks later, they finally lets you die.";
= "You break the glass hemisphere and soothing green gas rises up into the air. It smells like fresh cut grass and energizes you as you inhale it. It cleanses your system of all disease and then dissipates. Unfortunately, that was the only glass full of gas in this room.";
= "As you pass this vat of goop, it starts to bubble. Clouds of mold spores billow out. You bend over double, retching.";
= "Looking through the windows, you see a wide corridor, about twenty feet below you. It leads to the inner depths of the Filth Factory, as the rich, horrid stench wafting out indicates.";
= "It must be the corridor from which newly hatched roaches emerge to spread havoc and disease. Indeed, many of the insects, most the size of your fists, are running out. If you want to destroy the Factory, down there is probably where you want to be.";
= "This is an abandoned laboratory, where many of the ideas and spells used to create the Filth Factory were developed. Empty vials, beakers, and tubes cover two long lab tables. Little of the stuff is still useful.";
= "This massive cauldron takes the filth and trash roaches bring back here and somehow make it even more rank and disgusting. Stuff that looks like swamp muck and rotten plants pours in through tubes in the north wall.";
= "It swirls around in the basin, mixing with more disgusting stuff from other, smaller tubes. It then swirls down a pit in the middle, heading to parts unknown.";
= "The spiraling whirlpool of semi-liquid swamp goo catches you up, and swirls you into the pit. Before you reach the lower levels, though, huge knives and gears chop you up into small pieces. Soon, you will be exceptionally tasty roach food.";
= "This chamber is where trash and filth are refined to make better roach food. Filth is pouring into two huge, disgusting vats, where it is mixed, fermented, and poured into the massive goo pit below. Disgusting.";
= "";
= "";
= "";
= "You can see a massive corridor to the south. The walls and floor have been charred by constant exposure to magical energy, beamed out of the huge crystals to the east. If you move quickly, you might get through before they are reactivated.";
= "In the hall to the south, you see three beams of searing magical energy. They send heat into the pit of filth below, keeping it nice and warm and optimal for roach-breeding. If you were in their path, you would probably be charred almost instantly.";
= "The smell of smoke and ozone makes you feel weak, and ashes are starting to sting your eyes. The power that pours through this conduit is remarkable.";
= "You get a closer look at the crystals which project the energy. They seem to be drawing power from the globes behind them. The globes are dark now, but little flickers of light within indicate that they won't remain so for long.";
= "You pull the lever, hoping for a useful result. Instead, you hear a broken, grinding sound. Nothing else happens.";
= "These rooms were once barracks. The open doors, empty rooms, and nondescript trash betray no hints about whoever once lived here. They made sure to erase every hint of their identities before leaving.";
= "There is writing on this chest, which changes to become readable as you look at it. It says _Emergency supplies._";
= "As you walk down the corridor, you hear a rumbling noise behind you. You look back and see that the wall has shifted away, revealing a room filled with bones and skulls.";
= "";
= "";
= "";
= "";
= "With a roar, a river of slime pours out through the grates to the east. It catches you up and pulls you into the pits to the west, where you drown in graywater. It's a serious downer.";
= "You step into the teleporter. With a flash of light and an odd sensation, you find yourself somewhere else.";
= "Some cruel and twisted being has set up a kennel here. You can't be sure what horrid fate awaits these poor sheep, but you have a variety of vivid guesses.";
= "This passage is chilly and quiet, and there is a thick layer of dust everywhere.";
= "Suddenly, a mob of tiny roaches climbs onto you! You stop everything and furiously swat and brush them off. Eventually, you succeed. However, your packs feel lighter.";
= "Here, the energy reflected down from upstairs pours directly into the fetid mulch and goo, heating it. The warmth sustains the roaches and helps the trash rot faster. You try to figure out how to block the flow of energy, but the beams are too powerful.";
= "Fortunately, a recent earthquake has opened a large crack in the wall. You could, with difficulty, push your way through the passage.";
= "";
= "Through peepholes in the wall, you can see magical machinery grinding away. The stone walls are thick and the machines glow with magical protection. It's tempting to try, but you won't be able to shut down the factory from here.";
= "You step onto the rune in the middle of the chamber. Your skin tingles. Nothing else happens.";
= "The purpose of this rune is to magically slice apart and break open any body put onto it, for the purpose of dissection. It isn't picky about whether that body is alive or dead. You suddenly suffer a serious case of indigestion.";
= "Someone blocked off this passage with a thick stone wall. The builders of this place have gone to great lengths to keep anyone from reaching the lower levels.";
= "This room is where young troglodytes who want to become warriors are tested. The implements and objects around the chamber indicate that it is probably not a pleasant process.";
= "The altar immediately realizes that you're not a troglodyte, of course, and it reacts badly to your presence. Fortunately, it only absorbs all of your magical energy to recharge itself.";
= "You sanctify the altar. All of its dark energy leaks out, and the stone cracks. Well done.";
= "The reek in this room makes your stomach do a flip flop. This is where the troglos throw all their trash. The small window in the north wall doesn't help to ventilate the room at all.";
= "These troglodytes are a people who attach great importance to their ancestors. Unfortunately, they're also a people without a past. Created by whoever created them out of thin air, their rootlessness is clearly jarring to them.";
= "You now see how they make up for it. You see many statues of troglos, all taller and more regal than they could possibly have been in life. These subjects died in recent battles and then became the honored ancestors these creatures so clearly crave.";
= "";
= "Interesting. Given their gross appearance and behavior, most people tend to think of troglodytes as a mindless scourge. However, this well-stocked and neatly arranged library indicates that whatever else their merits, they're definitely literate.";
= "Suddenly and with the grinding of massive, hidden gears, the floor you're walking over slides out from under you. The glowing stone underneath hold the promise of great and instant pain.";
= "This is a bad sign. There is a dead body in here. The remaining scraps of his armor bear Empire insignia. Whoever he was, he was left in this room to starve.";
= "You have found a hidden passage out. You have no doubt that, after you pass, the troglos will block it up. You won't be able to return this way.";
= "";
= "You finally reach the inner chambers of Elhioc, leader of the khazis, total foe of humanity and complete paranoid. He always has a full complement of guards waiting at the entrance. You don't get a chance to baffle them with your sneaky words. They draw their weapons and attack.";
= "These are Elhioc's spartan living quarters. The mighty khazi lives like the lowest of his kind - sleeping on a thin, dirty pad on the cave floor.";
= "This is Elhioc's private altar. Unlike many of the other troglodyte altars, this one isn't enchanted. It's just there for his private prayers. The craftsmanship in the carvings is oddly elegant and beautiful.";
= "";
= "";
= "This is where troglodytes lock up those the khazis that were declared heretics. The odor of blood and decay suggests what happens then.";
= "The runes on the chains were exactly what you suspected: a trap. The troglodytes are deadly serious about keeping outsiders from reading their holy secrets. Corruption runs out of the book and up your arms.";
= "The cavern to the north has been settled by a clump of huge spiders with even huger heads. The troglodytes have a taste for unusual pets. Or allies.";
= "The bookshelves are covered with books captured from humans, each showing the signs of heavy reading by the troglodytes. You pull one of them off to inspect it. It doesn't come out, however. Instead, the bookshelf swings away from the wall!";
= "You surprise two pairs of troglodytes, two shamans and two warriors, arguing across a table. This must be where the holy and military sides of troglo society meet to discuss matters. They rapidly settle their differences, however, in order to fight you.";
= "The altar in this room is small, simple, and non-magical. There are two pairs of kneeling pads before it, facing each other. This must be a small, private meeting room.";
= "You reach the top of the stairs and meet a band of armed of troglodyte guards. King Vothkaro must have stationed them there to make sure you leave through the correct stairway. You turn back.";
= "You disrupt and shatter yet another of the troglodytes' altars. Surprisingly, this one didn't even have any defenses to blast you with. It just smokes and cracks, and that's the end of it.";
= "This library has survived the devastation of the Tower of Magi largely intact. The smell of sulfur is weaker here. As you enter, you see someone slip behind a bookshelf at the south end of the room.";
= "This hall contains three towers of nutrients, dirt, and plant matter, sucked down from the surface above or brought in by roaches. From here, pipes feed the stuff into the workings of the factory to make roach feed.";
= "The blessed altar in this shrine is still intact. In fact, its power has kept the invading demons at bay. ";
= "";
= "There is a shattered crystal on the pedestal to the south. Among the red shards at its base, you see some peculiar green plates of material. Odd. You'll have to get closer to see what it is.";
= "You disrupt and shatter yet another of the troglodytes' altars. It has already expended its power trying to keep you away. Now it submits, smolders, and cracks in two.";

= "You pull the lever. It snaps back to its original position. The vents on the ceiling open up again.";
= "You pull the lever. It snaps back to its original position. The lids of the ceiling pipes close. Looks like a very tight seal.";
= "You pull the lever. It snaps back to its original position. You hear a weird buzzing for a few moments.";
= "You pull the lever. It snaps back to its original position. You hear distant machinery kick in followed by a soft rumbling noise. Soon, it stops.";

= "The pipes drip slightly, having just deposited a payload of fresh effluvium into the barrels. A few of the spouts missed, making a mess on the floor. Fortunately, the caps on the pipes were open. Otherwise, something very explosive might have happened.";
= "You pull the lever. It snaps back to its original position. The distant soft humming of machinery kicks in. The sounds start to slowly build in intensity.";
= "There has been an explosion in this chamber. Somehow, the pipes started trying to expel effluvia while the caps on the ends were closed. The pressure caused them to burst. Interestingly, the blast has broken down the wall in the corner of the room.";
= "When you say you don't have the papers, the response is a gout of magical fire. It flies across the corridor, blocking it. You run out, just barely avoiding being crisped. The troglodytes don't plan to let you into their fortress.";
= "_Show us the papers, then!_ the voice barks. You hold up a piece of paper with writing on it, hoping that troglos can't read. No luck. You hear a spell being cast. Flames fly into the entry hall. You run out just quickly enough to save your lives.";
= "As you're marched along to the holding cell, one of the troglos mutters, _I wonder why they're back._ You then hear another troglo knock the other one unconscious. The blindfold is removed, and you're in the holding cell again.";
= "They aren't pleased. Realizing that you're surrounded by dozens of troglodytes, with more surely nearby, you back out of the entry hall. The troglos reenter the castle. You're alone again.";
= "The troglodytes blindfold you, double-check to make sure that you can't see, and haul you somewhere. You're half-led, half-dragged, and you fall to your knees several times. On the way, your hear one of the troglos ask who you are. He is immediately clubbed into silence.";
= "Finally, the blindfolds (along with some of your hair) are torn off, and you're thrown into a holding cell. There's a filthy bed, a chamber pot, and a very heavy iron gate. The gate is slammed shut, and you hear several bolts being set.";
